In Tanzania’s Bariadi district, 25 widows from the Mawasiliano Widow Group are stitching their way to financial independence and brighter futures. Through the production of school uniforms and clothing, these resilient women are not only building a business but also transforming their lives and those of their families.
The journey began in September 2023, with vital support from the Melania Foundation during the project’s first phase. In April 2024, additional backing from a WODF board member provided the materials needed to scale their efforts and grow their business.. Today, the impact of their work is profound, directly supporting 175 family members, including school-going children and dependents. Each garment they create represents more than a piece of clothing—it’s a symbol of hope, stability, and a sustainable future for their community.
