About Ubuntu 365 Social Impact Club

Ubuntu 365 Social Impact Club (Ubuntu 365 Club)  is a community of compassionate people who believe that consistent small giving can change lives in powerful ways and create an extra-ordinary impact to communities in need.

The term “Ubuntu” is an African ancient philosophy which literally translates into “I am, because we are,” meaning that “a person becomes a person through other persons.” It embraces the spirit of togetherness, solidarity, helping one another, shared responsibility, humanity towards others and  community.

Recognising the challenges that widows and orphans in Africa endure, the Netherlands-based Widows and Orphans Development Foundation (WODF) has established the Ubuntu 365 Social Impact Club to enable anyone to contribute one euro a day (€365 a year).

WODF has the Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling  (ANBI) status (public benefit status) granted by the belastingdienst. This makes donations to WODF tax-deductible. WODF is committed under the laws of the Netherlands to ethical stewardship of every euro entrusted to us.

Why widows and orphans?

After the death of their husbands, the majority of the widows endure multiple challenges ranging from dispossession of family property, eviction from matrimonial homes, lack of means of livelihood to support themselves and their children, stigma and harmful traditional practices.

Similarly, orphaned children drop out of school after the death of their fathers due to lack of schooling materials such as school uniforms, books, pens and fees for college education.

 Why One Euro a Day?

One euro seems small but it is powerful enough to transform lives in sustainable ways. Ubuntu 365 Club makes giving:

  • Affordable – only one euro a day, less than the cost of a cup of coffee.
  • Sustainable – Steady support throughout the year.
  • Inclusive – anyone can participate in creating social impact.
  • Impactful – making a real difference in the lives of the beneficiary widows and orphans.
  • Transformative – creating lasting change to the under-served communities.

What does Your Contribution Support?

  1. Income generating projects

Funds raised through Ubuntu 365 Club support practical programs such as widow empowerment through entrepreneurship skills and income generating projects.

2. Food security projects

Widows receive improved seeds to enable them cultivate food crops such as maize, beans and vegetables to fight hunger and ensure availability of adequate food for them and their children.

Through the assistance of rural extension officers, they learn best farming and climate resilient practices thus adapting to climate change and preserving the environment by using organic fertilizers as opposed to chemical fertilizers.

Food security improve the overall living conditions in the community and avoid malnutrition for children.

3. Education support for orphans

Through the Ubuntu 365 funds, WODF is able to provide educational support to orphaned children that includes:

  • School uniforms, books, pens and other educational materials for orphans in primary and secondary schools to enable them remain in school and excel in their studies .
  • College fees for orphans in vocational and university education.
  •  Equipment for practical training.

You donate by committing to €365 per year, but you give per your convenience under the following arrangement:

Becoming a member of Ubuntu 365 Club is purely voluntary. You can terminate your membership anytime, and without any obligation.
